I’m not saying my life story is a tragedy, but for a while, my inner monologue was stuck on a broken record from the ’90s. The song? “You’re Not Good Enough,” with a B-side of “I’m Probably Going to Fail.”

It’s that one relative who always brings up that embarrassing thing you did in the 5th grade—uninvited, persistent, and determined to convince you it’s the whole truth.

But what if you could fire that editor and rewrite your own story? ✍🏻
The truth is, we all have the power to reframe our narratives.

Rewrite Your Story: From Self-Doubt to Self-Compassion

The art of reframing—consciously shifting the way you see yourself and your experiences. It’s not about ignoring the past, but about finding the lessons and resilience within it. It’s about trading self-criticism for self-compassion.

The SAFE Method: A Simple Tool for Reframing

Use this four-step practice to break free from old patterns and find a new perspective:

S – Soften: Acknowledge the difficult feeling without judgment. Give it a name, like sadness or fear.
A – Allow: Accept that the feeling is present without resisting it.
F – Feel with Kindness: Explore the emotion with gentle curiosity. Ask yourself what this feeling believes or needs right now. For example, “Does this feeling need to feel safe or loved?”
E – Expand: Remember that this is a shared human experience. You are not alone in your struggles.

Break the cycle of self-defeat and reclaim control of your life, crafting a new story filled with hope and resilience.

So go ahead, grab the pen.

The story won’t tell itself.
